• Bay Area Community Foundation Announces 11th Annual Give Local Bay, A Day to Support Local Nonprofits, Set for May 6, 2025

Bay City, MI –  The Bay Area Community Foundation (BACF) is proud to announce the 11th annual Give Local Bay (GLB) presented by LiUNA Local 1098, a 24-hour fundraising event on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, benefiting over 50 nonprofits in Bay and Arenac Counties. This special day of giving provides an opportunity for community members to support local nonprofits, agencies, and parks by donating and increasing the impact of their contributions through incentive pools and prizes. The more funds a nonprofit raises, the more incentive money they receive, making every donation count even more towards building their endowments, responding to immediate needs, and making a lasting impact on our community.

On May 6, individuals can donate to one of the 50+ participating organizations by visiting www.GiveLocalBay.org. Each donation earns additional funds from a $35,000 match pool from the Rowleys Wholesale Advised Fund, Michigan Cream and Sugar Ice Cream Company, Tri-City Brewing Company, and BACF’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). An additional $20,000 in prizes will be offered to the nonprofits throughout the event from YAC; $1,500 of the prize pool is thanks to prize sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

With an easy-to-use web portal, individuals can make gifts to multiple local nonprofits in one transaction. If uncertain which organization to support, gifts can be made to the match pool that will help all participating nonprofits. There is no limit on how much an individual can give—all donations on May 6 help earn matching funds for the nonprofits.

Donations can be made all day on May 6 at www.GiveLocalBay.org or by calling 989-893-4438 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Give Local Bay 2025 Scavenger Hunt – Discover & Give Back!

BACF will post scavenger hunt clues on its social media pages, giving the community four points of interest across Bay and Arenac Counties to discover. On the day of GLB, the first person to visit each location, take a photo, and submit it through the link provided on social media will win $2,000 to be donated to a nonprofit of their choice, supported by YAC. There is a limit of one prize per nonprofit, ensuring that multiple organizations can benefit from community participation.

Exciting Community Events to Celebrate Give Local Bay 2025

Several community events and activities will take place across Bay City, with the Pere Marquette Depot (1000 Adams St. Bay City, MI 48708) serving as the central hub. Attendees can participate in offline giving, enjoy delicious lunch-time bites, and take part in exciting fundraising incentives for participating organizations.

    Dunk for Dollars

Dunk for Dollars is a dunk tank challenge coordinated in partnership with BACF and YAC. Six nonprofits, known as the Super Soaked 6, will take turns in the dunk tank from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rotating every 30 minutes. Leading up to the event, community members can vote online via BACF’s social media pages beginning April 15 to determine which nonprofits will participate.

During the event, all money raised to dunk a nonprofit representative will directly support that organization. To further amplify giving, YAC will match every dollar raised 1:1, up to $5,000.

    Cornhole Bonus Challenge

The Cornhole Bonus Challenge provides donors of a $20 offline donation or more at the Pere Marquette Depot with the chance to make a cornhole board shot. A successful shot earns a donor an additional $50 for a participating nonprofit. YAC will match up to $2,000 of every dollar raised 1:1, further increasing support for local causes.

    Food Trucks & Sweet Treats

During the midday events, several local food trucks will be on-site at the Pere Marquette Depot, including Swadee Midland, Kona Ice of Saginaw, I Want That Kettle Corn, Rollin’ with my Hoagies, and What About Waffles MI. Michigan Sugar Company will provide a cotton candy machine on site for an additional sweet treat.

    Evening Give Local Bay Celebrations

Scoops for a Cause – Michigan Cream & Sugar Ice Cream Company

Following the festivities at Pere Marquette, community members can visit Michigan Cream & Sugar Ice Cream Company (160 Uptown Dr. Bay City, MI 48708) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to continue celebrating GLB. On May 6, 10% of all ice cream sales will be donated to the GLB incentive pool. Adding to the fun, YAC students will serve as guest scoopers, and youth 18 and under who purchase ice cream will have the chance to spin the prize wheel, with the amount they land on donated to a nonprofit of their choice. YAC will match every dollar raised from the prize wheel 1:1, up to $5,000.
