Chippewa Nature Center Staff Begin New Roles

Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) recently announced new roles for staff members Jenn Kirts and Steve Frisbee. Kirts, formerly the Nature Day Camp Director/School Program Coordinator, began her role as Director of Programs in January. She now manages the development, direction and implementation of all programming at CNC, including public programs, school programs, Nature Day Camp, Nature Preschool and self-guided interpretive resources. Kirts brings a wealth of experience with 10 years as Nature Day Camp Director and coordinating onsite school programs the last several years, as well as the planning and delivery of public programs. She earned a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from Central Michigan University, and is the Secretary of the National Association for Interpretation Region 4 Board of Directors.

Steve Frisbee will begin his role as Nature Day Camp Director and Lead Educator in May. He has been a Nature Preschool teacher since 2007, the school’s inaugural year. Frisbee has also been the Nature Day Camp Program Coordinator since 2008. Other previous camp experience includes working for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania and Camp Greylock, a residential sports camp. As the Camp Director and Lead Educator, he will continue to bring a deep understanding of child development to the role, and is committed to serving families of our region through camp, preschool, school programs and other CNC programs. Frisbee has a Bachelor of Science degree in Science from Pennsylvania State University, and holds a Child Development Associate credential.
